Anna Ishkova- School Counsellor

Professional Interests and Expertise

I am a provisional psychologist currently completing the final year of my clinical master’s degree at RMIT University. So far, my studies have provided me with a strong foundation in childhood developmental psychology as well as insight into the variety of 'psycho-pathologies' that may arise during childhood (anxiety, depression, eating and feeding disorders, trauma, and oppositional and conduct disorders). I look forward to working with the children at Christ the King, their families and teachers to assist in some of the following areas:

-anxiety

-depression

-anger and conflict

-self-esteem

-social skills

-school refusal

-developmental or academic concerns

-peer relationships

-emotion regulation

-grief and loss

-trauma

-coping with changes/adjustment

I have a warm, empathic, non-judgemental nature and a flexible, respectful and professional approach to working with clients. Whilst I am predominantly trained in the realm of cognitive behaviour therapy, I also like to incorporate mindfulness-based practice, positive psychology, play therapy and motivational interviewing techniques into my practice, individualising therapy to support the specific needs of the child. I am passionate about empowering children to grow into the best versions of themselves and am excited to commence my work alongside the staff at Christ the King.
