Qualifications: Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Criminology


My name is Jessica Brown, I teach Grade 1/2 at Christ the King. I completed my Graduate Diploma of Education at the University of Ballarat and prior to this I completed a Bachelor Degree in Criminology, with a minor in Psychology at Deakin University.


I began my teaching career at Christ the King as a Casual Relief Teacher and I was later offered a position to teach Science. This was a fantastic opportunity and a great way to begin my teaching career as I got to teach and get to know each student from Foundation to Grade Six. From this position I became a member of the Christ the King STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) committee. My role in this committee is to assist other teachers with ways to implement the areas of STEM into all areas of our curriculum. I am interested in providing opportunities for students to explore the design process and make real word connections.


In July this year I will be fortunate enough to travel to Viqueque to work with our partner parish, Mary Immaculate. I am grateful that Christ the King has been able to provide me with this opportunity to see first hand the commitment and connection our parish community have with Viqueque. From this experience I hope to gain more knowledge around supporting our students in Social Justice teaching.


I feel extremely lucky to work with children each day and in a career that I am so passionate about. I am privileged to work in a community that is so open and supportive to help me provide the best learning opportunities for my students. When I see children work hard to achieve a goal they thought was out of reach, this inspires me. I always strive to provide students with a supportive learning environment where students can interact, experiment and grow as enthusiastic learners. I am passionate in providing the best opportunities for each student and their individual learning needs to reach their full potential.
