Micaela Swift - Learning Support Officer Junior Learning Community

Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Hospitality & Certificate IV in Education Support

Recent Professional Development: It is exciting to experience students loving books as much as I do! Last year I undertook extensive coaching in LLI (Levelled Literacy Intervention) LLI is an intense short term intervention that provides regular, small group instruction in reading and comprehension. LLI supplements classroom teaching and I have found it a very rewarding program to be involved with.

My Christ the King Connection: I have been part of Christ the King for almost 10 years. My family and I had only been living in Geelong for one month when my son started Prep at Christ the King in January 2009. As a new family, we were warmly welcomed into the school. I had left my career in Melbourne so I started volunteering in the classroom a few hours each week for the first 2 years of my son’s schooling. Feeling inspired and encouraged by the staff I began a course to become an Integration Aide and in 2011 I was offered a role at the school. Every day since them, I have felt thankful to work with an amazing group of staff and students in such a supportive community.

What drives me to be the best LSO at Christ the King: I am motivated by being part of a team that is helping kids to be the best they can be.
