Professional Interests and Expertise:

As the Family, School and Community Partnership Leader, my professional interests and expertise are in the broad fields of education and community partnerships, with the goal to support student learning and strengthen school communities. At Christ the King this has seen new partnerships formed with community organizations such as Ardoch, Barwon, Child Youth and Family and the City of Greater Geelong. In-school practices such as Community Conversations and Student Led Learning Walks have also been implemented as innovative platforms to empower families to continue to engage in their child’s learning.

Recent Professional Development:

  • Growth Coaching International Accreditation Certificate. Completing this coaching accreditation has provided an additional platform to make a positive contribution to the professional practice of teachers and impact whole school improvement. The positive effects of coaching are a key factor in the way Christ the King engage with their school community.

  • Engaging and Effective Classroom Practice (Glen Pearsall). This professional development assists me to support teachers with classroom practice, student engagement and effective teaching and learning.
  • Berry Street. This ongoing professional development assists me with building school capacity to address school engagement of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged students in the belief that all students can achieve their personal and social potential through educational achievement.

Drive:

The driving force working with Christ the King is the satisfaction and fulfilment that comes with being apart of a contemporary and outward facing Catholic school that is building a strong culture of partnerships for learning. The professionalism and cohesion among all school staff in supporting new initiatives and practices within the Family- School and Community Partnership sphere adds to my personal drive to continue to find new meaningful ways to engage with the school and broader community.
