Wellbeing


The main goal of our Wellbeing program at Christ the King is to develop a supportive school and classroom climate which promotes positive relationships and empowers all students to be independent, confident and resilient learners.


One of the ways we set about achieving our goal for student wellbeing is through is through explicit teaching of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). The SEL lessons takes place each week in all year levels. During these lessons students are provided with a range of opportunities to learn more about the five core competencies of Social and Emotional Learning:

  • Self Management
  • Self Awareness
  • Responsible Decision Making
  • Relationship Skills 
  • Social Awareness 

Our School Wide Positive Behaviours program also aims to support the general wellbeing and safety of all students. The School Wide Positive Behaviour program is underpinned by the three keys to positive behaviour: Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. The school also provides a Student Counsellor to support students experiences social and emotional issues. Our school counsellor is a qualified Psychologist who is sub-contracted through Catholic Care. Christ the King school is recognised by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation as an eSmart accredited school.  Cyber safety refers to the care we take to use technology responsibly and respectfully. Christ the King has developed a whole school approach to cyber safety and wellbeing based on the eSmart Framework. This framework is designed to help our school improve cyber safety and reduce the incidents of cyber-bullying and bullying.
