I am an experienced Speech Pathologist of over 10 years. I completed my education in New Zealand where I then worked for the Ministry of Education for 2 years before moving to Victoria, Australia. I have since worked in a variety of settings including private practice, community health and education.
My experience includes working with children and their families in the areas of speech, language, stuttering, voice, social skills and literacy. I am trained in the Lidcombe Program, which is an evidence based intervention to treat stuttering. I am also trained in the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk program.
I believe it is essential that Speech Pathologists in schools work collaboratively with leadership, teachers and Learning Support Officers in order to improve the academic and social outcomes for students. My role in education has a strong focus on building the capacity of the staff working on a daily basis with the students, so that the students are receiving the best possible instruction and are supported to access all areas of the curriculum.
