Assessment and Reporting

Assessment and reporting are an essential part of our planning and implementation process where we strive to use valid, relevant and reliable processes to achieve accurate results. A regular cycle of pre- and post-testing allows teachers to differentiate the curriculum and target content to the student’s point of need.  Timely reporting of student progress occurs regularly  each term through the use of Student Assessment Portfolios.

Student Assessment Portfolios include:

  • an outline of the assessment task
  • curriculum expectation over a learning continuum
  • personalised teacher comments
  • insightful student reflections on their learning
  •  work samples related to the task
  • parent feedback comments

The Student Assessment Portfolios from Foundation to Year 4 are paper based and are sent home at the end of each term.

The Student Assessment Portfolios for Years 5 and 6 are digital in the form of personal blogs. Student Assessments are regularly posted in the blogs and parents are encouraged to post feedback on their child’s blog.

In addition to the Student Assessment Portfolios, parents receive a formal written report at the end of each semester.

Christ the King firmly believe that this approach to assessment and reporting allows for teacher, student and parent engagement throughout the Learning and Teaching cycle.
