Michelle Wilson

Qualifications: Bachelor of Teaching / Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts Major)

Professional Interests and Expertise:

Whilst completing my Bachelor of Teaching degree, having completed the necessary practical and theoretical guitar exams, I taught children and adults private guitar lessons at a local music school. This provided me with valuable skills, understanding individual learning styles and effective communication skills that I was able to take with me into the school environment.

I began my teaching career teaching music at a local state primary school and have since produced and choreographed a number of whole school musicals. I have also had experience running a school choir. I also have a background in dance and was lucky enough to complete a short course in Indonesian dance at a performing arts University in Java, Indonesia.

The majority of my teaching career has been teaching in the classroom, but I am thrilled to be back teaching music and performing arts at Christ the King once again.

Recent Professional Development:

  • Dance Curriculum – teacher workshop

  • Growing a Successful Music Class – Fun Music Company

  • Understanding Music Curriculum – Fun Music Company

  • Online Training for Dyslexia

Drive:

My underlying passion for teaching has always stemmed from wanting to nurture and develop children’s self esteem and self confidence. I love teaching music and the performing arts as this area of learning is very conducive to developing children’s confidence. Developing the ability to perform and express themselves through the performing arts is a wonderful way to build self esteem and it is very rewarding to watch children grow in confidence and shine.
