Professional Interests and Expertise

After completing a double degree at Australian Catholic University in 2003 I began my teaching career in regional Central Victoria. Since then I have undertaken roles in a range of school environments, catering for many student abilities and learning needs, as well as integrating into the local communities.

I join the Christ The King community after having taught in a small New South Wales school for a number of years, where I acted as the school’s Religious Education Coordinator and Reading Recovery Teacher while also teaching in the classroom. More recently I taught in a larger school where I provided additional literacy and numeracy support to Year One and Year Two class groups. I am confident that this experience will hold me in good stead as I begin my time at Christ The King.

Recent Professional Development:

  • Using enabling and extending prompts to support all learners’: Mathematics (James Russo)

  • The Well-being Toolkit: personal and professional well-being modules

  • The Learning Collaborative (Dr. Lyn Sharratt)

  • Targeting Literacy Teaching (Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga)

  • The Power of Inquiry (Kath Murdoch)

What drives me to be the best teacher at Christ the King

I have extensive classroom experience across all age groups and in my time as a classroom teacher have maintained positive relationships with staff, students and the wider community. I feel very fortunate to be in a role that allows me to work in such varied settings and have always prided myself on being open to new ideas and experiences. It is my intention as a teacher to foster this love of learning and risk-taking in the students I teach and I will always endeavour to work in partnership with parents and carers in order to achieve such aims.
