Professional interests / Expertise

I have been practicing as a Social Worker for approximately 13 years. I have had the opportunity to work within the Out of Home Care sector and more recently as a Wellbeing Officer at a local Primary School. My previous roles have developed my understanding of trauma, children’s brain development, and the complexities that many children are facing in this modern day, particularly anxiety. I have thoroughly enjoyed working within the education sector, and have supported children through 1:1 counselling, and small group work focusing on topics such as anxiety, building resilience, and developing social skills. I feel it is important to create a safe and empowering environment to support children in recognising their own body cues, identifying their feelings and building on coping strategies to support them in their day to day functioning. I recognise that at times children may require additional support to thrive in their environment, and have developed creative ways to empower and support a child’s wellbeing as they navigate through their education. I strive to practice in a manner that is trauma informed, strengths based and child focused.

Drive

My passion has always been working with children, and I value the opportunity to work within a team to ensure a child is heard and supported according to their individual need. I am particularly passionate in supporting the social and emotional development of children, as I am a firm believer that knowledge is power, and with these tools children can gain a greater understanding of themselves, and how they connect with others to thrive and reach their potential. I am looking forward to getting to know the children, families and staff at Christ the King Primary School and recognise that it is very much a village that raises a child, and believe we can achieve optimal outcomes by working collaboratively.
