Professional Interests / Expertise

I feel very privileged to be teaching Prep at Christ the King. I grew up always wanting to be a teacher and graduated in 1994. A special interest in barriers to learning took me back to university two years later, where I completed post graduate studies in Remedial Education. My career has been very interesting and varied, spanning two different countries and encompassing many different roles. Over the years, I have taught grade Prep -6 as a classroom teacher. I have also taught Science, led targeted intervention programs and been involved in the mentoring and training of other teachers. Most recently, I was fortunate enough to work in an IB school, where I learnt to deliver a trans-disciplinary, concept driven curriculum. I am a versatile teacher with a passion for teaching literacy in the early years.

I truly love my job and enjoy coming to school each day. Working with children is challenging, rewarding and certainly never boring. I am always amazed by their innate ability to spread hope, happiness and positivity. I learn from my students every day. I aim to value each child’s unique contribution, nurture their strengths and talents, developing the dispositions of caring and culturally aware lifelong learners.
